Myths of Ethnicity

It always seemed strange to me that most Jews don’t look like they come from the Middle East, but rather from Europe, so the whole Israel-Zionist thing always seemed kind of suspicious. Turns out there are legitimate grounds for this idea. According to this large-scale DNA study, only about 8% of Jews can be traced back to the Near East. By far the large majority of Jews were European converts to the religion. There’s really no Jewish “ethnicity” whatever. Far too much is made of the concept of ethnicity in any case, whether it’s this or Japanese versus Korean, or any one group distinguishing itself from another for really no good reason besides primitive tribalism and outdated concepts of territorial conflict. The human race has got to get past these stupid divisions. Until that day, as Haile Selassie famously said, everywhere is war.
